Nandurbar : The Nandurbar Anti-Corruption Department caught red-handed the Divisional Officer here while accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000. The name of the mandal officer caught taking bribe is Prashant Neelkanth Devre (42). Nandurbar ACB took this action on Monday late night in Nandurbar Tehsildar office area. A 37-year-old man had complained about this to the ACB. On February 21, Prashant Devre intercepted a sand-laden truck from Karan Chauphuli area of Nandurbar town and deposited it at the tehsil office. On Monday, he had demanded one lakh rupees from the complainant to get rid of this truck. Meanwhile, the complainant lodged a complaint with the Nandurbar ACB.
When the ACB team probed the demand for bribe, it was found that Prashant Devre had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant and agreed to take the first installment of Rs 70,000. A trap was laid in the Tehsil office area on Monday evening. Prashant Devre was caught red-handed while taking the first installment of Rs 70,000 from the complainant. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Devre at Nandurbar Suburban Police Station.
