BBC is the only foreign international media group. There is information that preliminary survey is being done after receiving complaints from BBC about violation of rules of Income Tax Act. It has come to the fore that the Income Tax Department has started surveying the offices of BBC in Delhi, Pathopath, Mumbai. The Income Tax Department has been told to take survey action after investigating the complaints.
The BBC’s offices in Delhi and Mumbai are hit by the Income Tax Department. Sources have given information that some employees in Delhi have been asked to go home soon. However, it has come to the fore that the phones of some employees were confiscated. The BBC’s Bandra Kurla offices in Mumbai have also reached Income Tax.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the action taken after the documentary on Modi was done in good faith.
BBC documentary case in Supreme Court
A BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the context of the Gujarat riots would have been famous. After the documentary Modi: The Question India became famous, Ayekavarun Vadang would have been produced. The Central Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would have banned the documentary. The documentary would have been removed from Twitter and YouTube as well. After this, the issue of documentary would have reached the Supreme Court as well. Supreme Court hearings regarding the documentary are pending.
