A BHU student living in a rented house at Chhittupur in Lanka police station area committed suicide by hanging himself. On getting information late on Wednesday night, the police took possession of the body and informed the family members.
Kanai Paul (20), son of Haridas Paul, a resident of Ravindranagar New Town, West Bengal, was studying in BHU’s classical first year. He used to live in Chhittupur by taking a room on rent in Heera Patel’s house. Father called several times but did not pick up. On this the father contacted the students studying with him. When his companions reached the spot, they found the door locked from inside. When he did not get an answer on his voice, he peeped through the skylight and saw that he was hanging on the noose. On information, the police broke open the door and took the dead body into custody. Inspector Lanka Brijesh Kumar Singh told that the body has been kept in the mortuary. The parents of the student have been informed.
