No decision could be taken in the matter of admitting patients on vacant beds in the Cardiology Department of BHU Hospital. The crisis continues. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has taken cognizance of the matter. Its report has also been called from the District Magistrate. The District Magistrate has now sought an answer from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) by March 1.

Everyday more than 300 patients come from Varanasi and other districts of Purvanchal in the OPD of Cardiology Department. Surgery of patients is also done in cath lab. There are a total of 86 beds in the Super Specialty Block and BHU Hospital, but patients are being treated on only 45 beds. 41 beds are lying vacant. All the patients and their attendants are being returned daily. Even on Monday, all the beds in the ward were found empty. Actually, the whole matter is of mutual tussle. Due to this, the information of 41 beds of the Super Specialty Block was not uploaded in the Hospital Information System (HIMS). Because of this, information about vacant beds is not available.

Head of department raised voice

Head of BHU Cardiology Department, Prof. Omshankar had raised his voice regarding this problem. Complaints were made through Twitter and other places including the Prime Minister’s Office. Now the Prime Minister’s Office has sought an answer in the matter.
