BDC Election: Voting begins on vacant posts of BDC in Varanasi, heavy police force deployed at polling place

The by-election was held on Thursday for two vacant posts of Area Panchayat Member (BDC). From 8 am to 5 pm, 65.87 percent polling was recorded in Araziline block Darekhu seat and 48.70 percent polling in Chiraigaon’s Siwon seat. The counting of votes will be done at Block Headquarters from 8 am on Friday. After this the result will be declared.
The number of voters was more in the morning while the number of voters decreased as the day progressed. District Election Officer and District Magistrate S Rajalingam said that out of total 1298 voters in Darekhu, 855 voted. At the same time, out of total 1404 voters, 684 voted in Sewon. The ballot boxes have been kept in the strong room under CCTV surveillance and tight security arrangements. On Friday, the counting of votes will be done in the presence of the candidates and their agents under the surveillance of CCTV. RO, Zonal and Sector Magistrates were present at all the polling booths.
