In Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, on behalf of Sakal Jain Samaj, on Tuesday, the people of Jain community took out a rally in the city and protested against the declaration of Sammed Shikhar as a tourist destination. In the rally, the people of the society reached the SDM office raising slogans. Where he submitted a memorandum to the President, Prime Minister and Chief Minister, demanding that the place be declared a holy place instead of a tourist destination.

The people of the society said that the government has declared the pilgrimage site Sammed Shikhar as a tourist destination, which the society opposes. Society’s president Pankaj Jain said that the arbitrary decision of the government will be opposed at every level.

Twenty tirthankaras of the society and Annata Annat Muniraj went to salvation after penance at Sammed Shikhar. Sammed Shikhar is a sacred place for the Jain community, while the government has declared it as a tourist destination.

He submitted a memorandum to the SDM to the President, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister and demanded immediate change of the decision to make Sammed Shikhar a tourist destination. He said that if Sammed Shikhar is not declared a holy place, the society will be forced to agitate. A large number of women from Jain community were also present in the rally.

And in Baraut, a meeting of Sarv Samaj was held on the city’s Delhi Road, in which a demand was made to declare Sammed Shikhar as a sacred area instead of tourism. A demand was made to the Prime Minister to exclude Shikharji from the list of tourism sector. The speakers said that after the declaration of tourism, meat and liquor will also be used in this area. Due to which the sanctity and dignity of the pilgrimage area will be destroyed.

On the other hand, a meeting of Jain Milan Parivar Barot was held at Shrivardhman filling station located on Delhi Saharanpur road. It was decided that under the aegis of Jain Milan Parivar Baraut and the entire Jain society Baraut, a grand rally would be taken out at 9 am on December 21.

Through the rally, the central government and the state government of Jharkhand will be demanded to withdraw the decision of declaring Sammed Shikhar ji as a tourist destination and to declare it as a holy place. It will start from Atithi Bhavan for Maharalli and gather at Barot and go through the main roads of the city till Tehsil. Here a symbolic dharna, demonstration and memorandum to the President, Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Jharkhand State will be given to the SDM.
