Nagpur. Nagpur District Madhyavatin Sahakari Bank’s process of auctioning the properties of farmers for their outstanding loans has been embroiled in controversy. Prahar chief and former state minister Bachchu Kadu knocked on the bank on Tuesday. Along with the workers, farmers were also present on this occasion. The auction process was stopped due to Kadu’s agitation. In this regard, a meeting will be held between the District Magistrate, the bank officer and the farmers. Only after this the next action will be taken. Kadu has warned that the hands and legs of those who participate in the auction will be broken.
A movement was organized on behalf of Bachchu Kadu to postpone the loan recovery from the farmers. He demanded an inquiry into the 2003 scam of Rs 130 crore in the District Central Bank. Also demanded legal action against MLA Sunil Kedar involved in the scam. Actually started the process of auctioning the property of the farmers to recover the outstanding loan in the bank. To oppose this, Kadu started the movement. He told that the recovery of Rs 42 lakh including interest is being shown on the farmers who took a loan of Rs 2 lakh.

The properties of about 300 farmers of the district are to be auctioned. A notice has also been issued to the farmers in this regard. Sagar Vamanrao Pachpohar, the kin of Venubai Pachpohar, had complained to MLA Kadu. In 2017, loans up to Rs 2 lakh were waived off under the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Samman Yojana. Due to technical reasons, many farmers could not take advantage of the loan waiver scheme. Later the portal was closed during the Corona period. Now the bank has started direct auction. This will increase the difficulties of farmers dependent on agriculture. The Pachpohar family made a bitter demand for the loan waiver.
