In Sultanpur district, pregnant women who got cesarean delivery through Ayushman card got a shock. In cesarean delivery, the amount given earlier through Ayushman card has been stopped in private hospitals. Because of this, women and their attendants have to bear the cost of cesarean delivery in private hospitals of the district.
There are six to seven cesarean deliveries daily in the District Women’s Hospital. At the same time, there is an average of 20 to 30 cesarean deliveries in private hospitals. The central government has issued Ayushman card for medical help to the poor. Under this, there is a provision of medical facility up to five lakh rupees to the card holder. Till now, women and their attendants used Ayushman cards in case of caesarean delivery in private hospitals.

Now the use of Ayushman card in cesarean delivery has been stopped. Dr. BK Pathak, General Manager of State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Service (Sachij), Lucknow, has issued an order to all private hospitals to remove the expenses on cesarean delivery from the purview of Ayushman card. After this order, the Ayushman card holders who got Caesarean delivery in private hospital got a big shock. Dr. Aastha Tripathi, surgeon of the District Women’s Hospital, said that six to seven cesarean deliveries are done daily in the District Women’s Hospital. Sometimes this number reaches 10 to 12. At present, apart from him, Dr. Saroj is the only surgeon.
Ayushman card can be used in District Women’s Hospital
Sachij’s District Information System Manager Durgesh Nandan told that Ayushman card holders will get the benefit of cesarean delivery only in the District Women’s Hospital. This benefit will not be available in private hospitals. The general manager of Sachij has ordered this by issuing a letter to all private hospitals.
