Teams of NIA and ATS on Thursday raided Adampur and Jaitpura in Varanasi and detained three suspected PFI activists. He is being interrogated at a secret location. The mobile and e-mail accounts of the three were also searched. It is being told that they have connections with big leaders of PFI. However, no security agency is opening its mouth in this regard.
On the other hand, Bajardiha, Madanpura, Varuna Zone’s Saraiya, Puranapul, Adampura and Jaitpura in Bhelupur, Shivpur were in turmoil throughout the day. NIA and ATS teams are conducting raids across the country regarding terror funding by Popular Front of India (PFI). PFI head Parvez was arrested in New Delhi.
The families of the youths who were detained stood at the police station
According to police sources, three activists associated with PFI in Banaras were taken into custody from Kachhi Bagh under Jaitpura police station and from Pilikothi and Pathanitola under Adampur police station at 5 am. There is no information about where the team is taking them and interrogating them. The relatives of the three who were taken into custody continued to gather at Jaitpura and Adampura police stations. However, the police referred them to the action taken from Lucknow.
According to police sources, the NIA team first threatened Pathani Tola under Adampura police station at 4.30 in the morning. Picked up a young man from here, who had little to do in the locality. After picking up the said youth, a youth was picked up from Chittanpura under Adampura police station.
After five o’clock, the team reached Kachhibagh in Jaitpura and took the youth into custody. The NIA team gathered information about the relatives along with taking their names, addresses and mobile numbers from the three family members. During interrogation, tried to know whether any member ever went out of the country.
The NIA confiscated the Android mobile of the youth, who was handling the ancestral shop of sari and clothes in Kachhibagh and a resident of Pathanitola including Chittanpura. The people of the locality told in the interrogation of the police that the youth living in Pathanitola did not talk to anyone. It looked very little.
PFI’s name came in protest against CAA-NRC
Three years ago, the role of the members of Popular Front India was important in spoiling the atmosphere of the city in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. During the ruckus in Benia and Bajardiha, more than 40 people were identified, who were said to be associated with PFI. During the ruckus in Bajardiha, a child was killed in stone pelting and stampede. According to the Commissionerate Police officials, after the crackdown on the banned organization SIMI, many of its office bearers and members joined the PFI.
PFI was established in 2006. This organization, which started from Kerala, is currently active in various states of the country. In Banaras too, more than 80 of its workers were identified during the CAA-NRC ruckus three years ago.
