Allahabad High Court: Relief from High Court to those opposing CAA-NRC, order to be released on bail

The Allahabad High Court has ordered the release of bail to the accused who has been in jail for 26 months for opposing the CAA and NRC in Kanpur. The court ordered the release of the petitioner on personal bond and two securities. This order was given by Justice Manish Mathur while hearing the bail application of Haseen alias Ishu.

In the case, the petitioner was in jail since 22 August 2020. He took part in the uproar against the implementation of the Civil Amendment Act in Kanpur Nagar on 20 December 2019, in which people lost their lives in indiscriminate firing by the attackers and the police.

In the case against the petitioner 147, 148, 149, 332, 353, 336, 307, 188, 427, 34, 109, 302, 120B, Section 3/4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act And an FIR was registered at Babupurwa police station under Arms Act. It was said on behalf of the petitioner that he has been falsely implicated in the case. There is no evidence against him. Although the public prosecutor opposed the bail, the court, in view of the facts and circumstances, ordered his release on bail.
