Allahabad High Court: Ban on order to conduct survey of Gyanvapi campus extended till November 30

The Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has filed a compliance affidavit in the Gyanvapi Masjid and Vishweshwar Temple dispute case in Varanasi. The court has fixed November 11 for the next hearing by giving 10 days time to the counsel of the petitioner Sunni Central Waqf Board to file the rejoinder affidavit. The court has extended till November 30 the stay on the order of the Varanasi court to conduct a survey of the disputed premises of Gyanvapi.

This order was given by Justice Prakash Padia while hearing the petition of Sunni Central Waqf Board. ASGI and senior advocate Shashi Prakash Singh, appearing for the central government, and Manoj Singh, appearing for the central government, told the court that in compliance with the order dated October 18, 2022, the damages amount has been deposited and an affidavit has been filed. Which the court ordered to be placed on record.

In the affidavit of Director General of Archeology of India V Ramachandran, all the information including the functioning of the Department of Archeology has been given and it has been said that he is capable and capable of conducting surveys. If the court gives any order, he will comply with full transparency and competence.

It is also reported that there are 3695 Nationally Protected Monuments all over the country. Which is being maintained by the Archaeological Department of India. Necessary facilities have been made available for the tourists. Every year 500 heritage sites are being marked and repaired. Considering every aspect of their protection, measures are being taken. The court has also given freedom to the state government and other opposition parties to file their replies.
