Agniveer recruitment rally in Varanasi: 240 candidates from Sahjanwa and Gola cross the first hurdle

In the Agniveer Sena recruitment process, 240 candidates from Sahjanwa and Gola of Gorakhpur passed on Thursday morning. Out of the registered 3773 candidates, 3264 candidates contested. Only 240 candidates were successful in the first hurdle of becoming Agniveer. Physical fitness of the candidates, documents were checked amidst tight security and CCTV cameras at the Ranbankure Maidan in the cantonment.

The race for the candidates of Sahjanwa and Gola tehsils of Gorakhpur started at 6 in the morning. They were made to sit in the hold area after counting in the night itself. After five o’clock in the morning, a batch of 100-200 candidates was made and run to the Ranbankure ground. In the 1600 meters race, some candidates could not reach the target by a fraction of a second and got eliminated.

Whereas, 240 candidates ran with full vigor and crossed the first stage to become Agniveer. Documents of successful candidates were verified. Prior to this, the physical fitness of the candidates was checked at the booth. According to the Army Recruitment Office, one lakh 43 thousand 286 candidates from 12 districts have applied for the Agniveer selection recruitment till December 6.

According to the Army Recruiting Office, there is an appeal to the candidates not to fall in the trap of anyone. No one can do any forgery. The selection recruitment process is being done under the surveillance of CCTV. Along with Army Intelligence, there is an alert till the local intelligence unit, commissionerate police and STF.

In view of the crowd of candidates in the cantonment area, the security arrangements remained strong on the second day also. From Cantt Station to Ranbankure Maidan, police personnel were deployed at various places. From morning till night the candidates reached Cantt station and City station, Banaras station, Cantt roadways bus station. No vehicle was allowed to go towards Ranbankure Maidan after 2 pm.

There will be race for 7045 candidates of Khajni and Gorakhpur tehsils of Gorakhpur on Friday. However, the candidates of both these tehsils reached the cantonment area in the night itself. Some candidates kept platform number nine of the Cantt station as their base.
