Multiplex In Srinagar: After a long wait of decades, it will be possible for the people of Kashmir Valley to watch movies on the big screen again. The first multiplex in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir will be opened for the local people from October 1. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will inaugurate the multiplex on September 20 with the screening of Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. However, common people will have to wait till the end of the month to see the first film on the big screen.

Theater owner Vikas Dhar said, “We want to be a part of the world premiere of Vikram Vedha and with this we will open our theater to the general public.” He said that it will have several food courts besides providing the most modern cinema entertainment experience to the youth and children.

There will be three screens in the theater, this will be the timing

The inauguration of the first multiplex cinema is going to be a new chapter for the entertainment of the local people. Designed by INOX, the multiplex with a seating capacity of 520, will be the first cinema hall in Kashmir after three decades. The theater will have three screens and will have four shows daily from 9 am to 9 pm.

Vikas Dhar, the owner of the multiplex, is the son of Vijay Dhar, who owned the prestigious ‘Broadway’ theater in Srinagar. The Broadway theater was burnt down in a fire incident in the mid-1990s. He runs the largest educational society in Kashmir which also runs a franchise school.

‘Entertainment is in my family and in our blood’

Speaking to ABP, Vijay Dhar said, “Entertainment is in my family and in our blood and the connection was broken in 1990, but with the reopening of cinema and helping local children with much-needed entertainment, the connection was renewed. will form.

Manoj Sinha inaugurated multiplex cinema hall

Apart from private cinema halls, the Jammu and Kashmir government has also undertaken a project to set up multi-purpose large screen theaters in the union territory as part of the new entertainment policy. LG Manoj Sinha on Sunday inaugurated multipurpose cinema halls in the twin South Kashmir districts of Pulwama and Shopian, while similar cinema halls will be inaugurated in Anantnag, Srinagar, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar and Reasi soon. Will be done.

Significantly, cinema halls were closed in Jammu and Kashmir since the 1990s due to unfavorable conditions due to the rise of militancy. However, now residents will be able to watch cinema on the big screen after a long time.
