adoption process faster; No waiting time for special needs children

New Delhi : ‘There will be no waiting period for processing children with special needs and children listed for urgent adoption,’ the central government clarified on Wednesday. The waiting list of Tatadichi is mainly for more than five years and often there are no children who can not get foster even after coming in the process.

There is currently a huge waiting list for adoption of children up to six years of age. However, there is no need to wait for the adoption process of children who are in the list of special children and children, said Women and Child Welfare Minister Smriti Irani in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Currently, 76 thousand 118 boys are actually working in 2,245 child care centers in the country. In this, the children of Vatsalya Yojana are included. There are 30,444 pending adoption applications at the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA). This includes 918 foreign fosters.

In the last three years, the proof of adoption of girls is more than that of boys, Irani said. In the year 2019-20, 1400 boys and 1938 girls were adopted. In the year 2020-21, the adoption process of 1,200 boys and 1,856 girls has been completed. In the year 2021-22, 1293 boys and 1690 girls got nine families in the country. Because of the high number of children, the adoption process becomes difficult for them. Such information has been made available mainly for foreign citizens or citizens resident there. After that, 42 children were able to get foster children in about seven days. That’s why children don’t have to wait to get a foster parent. If the adoptive parents are ready, they may have to wait. Merely, no children,’ said Irani.

law enforcement to reduce duration

Currently the adoption process takes at least two years. Some cases have taken up to three and a half years. In order to reduce this period, the central government has made amendments in the law. Orders were given in this regard on 23rd September, at that time 900 cases were pending in the State High Courts. The process of 580 children has been completed,’ Aashi Mahtihi Smriti Irani Yane Dili.
