On the second day of the three-day Adarsh Gram Sammelan by Stanford University, Wheels Global Foundation and Faculty of Management Studies at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), speakers discussed several points including water crisis, sanitation and nutrition. On water scarcity, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that it is everyone’s responsibility to overcome the water crisis. For this they have to come forward.
Union Minister Shekhawat said through video conferencing that the demand for water for agriculture, agriculture is being met. He appreciated the efforts of IM-BHU, Wheels Foundation and other organizers for the contribution and impact of water on the lives of rural population.
Sadhguru Madhusudan Sai, founder of Sathya Sai University, called for the development of infrastructure to make health affordable in rural areas as well as incorporating nutrition into rural dietary habits. Gauri Kumar, former Secretary to the Government of India, Chairperson, Wheels Water Council, discussed water and sanitation.
Dr. Rahul Gupta, Director, Office of National Drug Control Policy, US, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to see India take the global lead in the pharmaceuticals sector. For this, the pharma companies of India will also have to take steps to avoid the network of counterfeit drugs.
Dr. Raj Shah, President of the WGF Health Council, spoke of filling the gap in access to health through telemedicine. The participants also asked questions to the speakers, to which they answered. Meanwhile, from Stanford University, Prof. Kanwalijit JS Anand, Dr. Raj Shah, Prof. VN Mishra, Dr. Ashok Gupta, Dr. Jawahar Shah, Dr. Ranjan Ghosh were present.
