Nagpur. An acid attack on a married woman on Saturday morning in Vinoba Bhavenagar area under Yashodharanagar police station created a stir. At the time of the attack, his two and a half year old child was also with him. Information about scorching of both has come to light in the attack. His treatment is going on in the medical hospital but the police is denying that there was an acid attack. The injured woman was told as Lata Puranik Verma (24), resident of Gali No. 1, Vinobabhave Nagar.

Lata is a housewife and her husband Puranik is a driver. Puranik had gone out for some work on Sunday morning. Around 9 o’clock Lata got a call from an unknown person. Told them that your husband has an immoral relationship. Lata was called to meet him in Kundanlal Guptanagar to give her information. Lata came out of the house with her child. Near the house, 2 accused riding a two-wheeler came from behind and threw acid on Lata. Due to missing the target, not much acid fell on Lata and her child. Both suffered injuries on their hands and abdomen. The accused fled from the spot.

It is said that the attackers were wearing a burkha. Hearing the screams of Lata, the people standing nearby ran for help. The hands and feet of the police also swelled due to the news of acid attack on the woman. Immediately Lata was taken to the hospital for treatment. Top officials also reached the spot. Doctors say that the injuries of both are not serious and are out of danger. Efforts are being made to find out what was the inflammable substance thrown at Lata.

The forensic investigation team has also taken samples from the spot. Police has registered a case against unknown accused. Lata says that she was wearing a burkha by the attackers. Can’t even tell the reason for the attack. By the way, police sources claim that Lata’s husband is having a dispute with someone. Due to enmity, Lata was attacked but nothing is clear. Police is scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the premises.
