Ulhasnagar: Abhay Yojana has been implemented by the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation for the recovery of the outstanding property tax, for the convenience of the outstanding holders, to waive the interest on filling the arrears. This scheme started from October 15. Closes on Monday 31 October. There are 1 lakh 80 thousand properties registered in Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation area. The Municipal Corporation has a tax arrear of Rs 566 crore in the form of the said tax, out of which this year the concerned division of the Municipal Corporation has not been successful in collecting the tax even 20 percent of the total arrears. Capital Value Tax recovery imposed by the Municipal Corporation will also not be recovered after heavy protests and the government’s suspension, in such circumstances all administrative and urban development work may come to a standstill. Due to which the administration may have to bear the wrath of the general public, so Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation has implemented the Abhay Yojana for 15 days.

Now only a few days are left for the closure of the scheme, now the demand for extension of the duration of the Abhay scheme has started. Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aziz Shaikh has implemented the Abhay Yojana to make it easier for the citizens of Ulhasnagar to pay taxes, which were facing difficulties in online payments in the initial days. Diwali was also a holiday, so people were not in the city, it is the end of the business year, then it is mandatory for the traders to make other payments.

Banks were also closed during the festival, so keeping in mind the interest of the merchant and the city, there is talk of extending the period of Abhay scheme by the Municipal Corporation, now Jagdish Tejwani, president of Ulhasnagar Traders Association, working among the shopkeepers, said to give one more opportunity for one month. Tejwani said that he would meet the municipal commissioner regarding the above demand. Tejwani said that those on whom taxes are pending in lakhs, they should be collected at the earliest, whether a politician or a public representative. Tax collection should be used properly. The city’s deadly potholes should be fixed soon and the time limit of Abhay Yojana should be extended.
