Circle Institute, New Delhi: The statistics of 9 lakh 79 thousand vacant posts in various departments of the Central Government was presented in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. It has come to the fore that the sanctioned posts in IAS, IPS and CBI have not been filled.

The Department of Expenditure placed the annual report on the floor of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Till March 1, 2021, the data of vacant posts in various departments of the Central Government has been mentioned in this. According to this, 9 lakh 79 thousand 327 posts are vacant in all departments of the Central Government, Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh has written in the Lok Sabha. For IAS officers, 1472 posts have not been appointed yet. By the year 2022, the state sanctioned posts for IAS are 6789, IAS officers have been appointed on 5317 posts. On the other hand, out of 4984 sanctioned posts of IPS officers, 864 are vacant. And out of 3191 sanctioned posts of Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers, 1057 posts are vacant. The same number is till January 1, 2022. By November 30, 2022, there would have been 1673 posts out of total 7295 posts in CBI. This would have resulted in creation of additional 128 posts. ‘All central departments and ministries have been ordered to fill vacant posts in a time-bound manner’, informed Singh.

91 officers without appointment

In the year 2021, 91 candidates selected by the Public Service Commission were still given appointments in government departments, the information regarding their race has come to the fore. In this year, a total of 748 candidates were selected for the posts of IAS, IPS and IFS. Only till December 7, 2022, 91 of these candidates did not get appointment in any government department. Limited priority, findings of medical test, unsuccessful claim regarding Rakiv Jagamba are the reasons for the same.
