Thrissur : Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala would have been in limelight a few years ago because of the valuables found in the secret vault. Now other Guruvayur temples in Kerala have come to fame because of the wealth of the Kotyavadhis who are their Nawavars. The famous Sri Krishna temple of Guruvayur in Thrissur district has bank deposits of Rs 1,737.04 crore and 271.05 acres of land, according to information received from the authorities.

Although it is said that the temple has a huge collection of gold, silver and precious stones offered by the devotees, the temple administration has refused to tell the details and its value due to security reasons, it has been said. This Krishna temple is many centuries old and every year thousands of devotees from all over the country visit here.

Originally a resident of Guruvayur, the president of ‘Proper Channel’ or organization M.K. In response to the question filed by Haridas in the right of information, the details of the property of the temple came to the fore. According to the answer given by the Guruvayur temple administration in the right to information, the temple has 271.0506 acres of land, but its value is yet to be decided. 1737 crore four lakh 90 thousand 961 rupees are deposited in various banks with the temple.

According to the information provided by the temple administration, after coming to power in 2016, the Pinarayi Vijayan government has not received any financial help till today. In this context, despite the order of the High Court, the contribution of Rs 10 crore to the Chief Minister’s Emergency Relief Fund in 2018-19 has not yet been received by the temple.

MK. Haridas is a devotee of Guruvayurappan. Due to the continuous neglect and inaction of the administration towards the development of the temple, it was difficult to get information. He alleged that despite having bank deposits and other assets, the administration does nothing for the temple and the devotees. The administration runs a hospital near the temple, but its condition is pathetic, he alleged. He expressed his displeasure about Prasad distribution and the day-to-day rituals in the temple.
