Amarinder Singh Joined BJP: Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) chief and former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh joined the BJP on Monday. Along with this, he also merged his party PLC with BJP. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda got him included in the party.
Amarinder Singh joined BJP just a few hours ago, but party sources are pointing out that in the coming days, Captain Amarinder Singh can be made the national vice-president. Not only this, he can also become the governor.
BJP hopes that his arrival can help the party expand and increase its base in Punjab in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Before the last assembly elections, the BJP fought the elections in alliance with the Akali Dal. In such a situation, Akali has always been a big party in Punjab. In such a situation, the BJP’s own support base in Punjab has never been very large.
Congress did not strengthen the army
After joining the BJP, former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh hit out at the Congress-led UPA government, saying it did not strengthen the army. Also said that when AK Antony was the Defense Minister, during that time there were no defense deals to strengthen the three forces.
Discussion with PM and Home Minister?
Amarinder Singh said that Punjab has its own challenge due to its border with Pakistan, about which he is continuously discussing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. In recent times, the threat of drones from Pakistan has also increased.
Let us tell you that he was the Chief Minister of Punjab for about nine years. Last year, Amarinder Singh formed the PLC after resigning from the Congress and contested the Punjab Assembly elections with the BJP but lost.
