Kehraram Chaudhary does organic farming in Data village located in Jalore district of Rajasthan. In the year 2012, Kehra Ram Chaudhary, inspired by a TV program, made up his mind to cultivate date palms. For this, he went to Bhuj in Gujarat and got information from experts, where the production of dates with Israeli technology is being taken (Date Cultivation from Israeli Technique).
Just then, at the same time Kehraram Choudhary ordered 312 plants of Bari variety and after two and a half years, as soon as the plants were supplied, he started organic farming of dates in 2 hectares of field. Even before this, Kehra Ram Chaudhary had taken a very good production by horticulture of pomegranate. Along with the cultivation of horticultural crops, these Marwari farmers are also taking the production of traditional crops of wheat, bajra, moong, moth, castor and rayada today.
Millions of profits from economical farming
From the very beginning, Kehraram Choudhary, a successful farmer, decided to make date palm farming economical. For this, instead of chemical manure-fertilizers, cow dung manure and vermi compost were used. Kehraram also used biological method for the nutritional management of plants. Gradually, profits from organic farming started increasing, then the date plantation spread over 2 hectares was increased to 4 hectares and along with Bari variety, Medjool variety of dates also started growing.
Khemaram says that about 100 kg of dates are being produced from one tree, which are sold in the market at a price of Rs 1000 per kg. His palm orchard produces 21,200 kg of dates every year, earning an annual income of Rs 30 lakh. According to media reports, Kehraram Chaudhary of Rajasthan has so far earned an income of up to 3 crore 12 lakhs by doing organic farming of Date Palm.
Cereal cultivation has made four moons
Kehraram Chaudhary is now doing horticulture of wheat, millet, moong, moth, castor and raida, dates and cereals on about 7 hectares of land. Before planting 600 date palms, he planted 2500 pomegranate saplings in the year 2009. Pomegranate Orchards, spread over 3 hectares of land, yields about 25 to 30 kg per tree, which are sold at Rs 70 to 80 per kg.
Let us tell you that the pomegranates grown in the fields of Kehraram Chaudhary are exported to the Rajyavar mandis. It is earning an annual income of Rs 40 to 42 lakhs. Today, farmers like Kehraram Chaudhary, Jalore, by taking the production of horticultural crops along with traditional crops, have proved that a lot can be done in Advanced Agriculture by adopting innovations.
