Blood Donation Amrit Mahotsav: On the occasion of the 72nd birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, the Union Health Ministry has started a mega drive for voluntary blood donation from 17 September to 1 October. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya shared information on Twitter about the voluntary blood donation camp started on the birthday of PM Modi.
Mandaviya told that a new world record has been set today. Under the Blood Donation Amrit Mahotsav on the birthday of PM Modi, more than 87 thousand people have so far voluntarily donated blood. At the same time, more than 19 lakh people have registered to donate blood. He said that this is an invaluable gift from the country to the Prime Minister. This is a new record but the counting is still going on and their number is increasing continuously.

Let us tell you that a 15-day blood donation campaign has been started by the Union Health Ministry from today. Under this campaign, National Voluntary Blood Donation Day will be celebrated till October 1. Permission has been given to 6136 camps across the country to collect blood for ‘Rakta Donation Amrit Mahotsav’. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya donated blood himself by visiting a camp at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. During this, he also requested people to register on Arogya Setu App or e-Raktkosh portal to donate blood as ‘Rakt Daan Amrit Mahotsav’.
Voluntary blood donation campaign
It is being told that a target has been set to collect one lakh units of blot in a day through this campaign. At the same time, through this drive, people will also be made aware about donating blood regularly. All ministries and departments of the Centre, states and union territories, non-governmental and community organizations and other parties will participate in this campaign.
