London: President Draupadi Murmu pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Hall

London: President Draupadi Murmu pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on behalf of herself and the people of India at Westminster Hall in London. President Draupadi Murmu is in London from September 17-19 to attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and offer condolences from the Indian government. United Kingdom Queen Elizabeth II died at her Balmoral Castle summer residence in Scotland on 8 September at the age of 96. President Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have condoled the demise of Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Elizabeth’s funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey at 11 a.m. on 19 September. US President Joe Biden and Japan’s Emperor Naruhito have confirmed their attendance at the funeral. Members of royal families from across Europe, including Norway, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, are expected to attend. Heads of many countries will also reach Britain.

Queen for 70 years

Queen Elizabeth II ruled Britain for 70 years. Elizabeth became Queen in 1952 after the death of her father, George VI, when she was just 25 years old. She was the longest reigning monarch of Britain. Britain got 15 prime ministers during his reign. Elizabeth II was the queen of not only Britain but of 14 more countries. After his death, his son Charles has been made the new King of Britain.
