In Agra, on the one hand, government rice is not being available to the needy from cheap gulle shops, on the other hand, about 80 thousand kg of government rice has been caught in a godown located in Bichpuri. The warehouse owner is a grain trader. Government rice was kept in 1600 sacks. The weight of each sack is about 50 kg. The administration has pegged its estimated value at over Rs 30 lakh. The sacks and the quantity kept in them were being counted till the time of writing this news.

The supply department had received information from the informer about the smuggling of rice to be distributed in the ration shop from this godown built near the Bichpuri canal. Police and administration jointly raided the warehouse at 12 pm on Sunday night. By 10 pm on Monday night, 1600 sacks (kattas) have been counted.

About 80,000 kg of rice has been seized. The warehouse owner is interrogating Gopal, a resident of Mirzapur village of Malpura, in police custody. Tehsildar Sadar Ashish Tripathi said that the rice sacks found on the spot have the seal of government ration. The warehouse has been sealed.

Raid for the third time in four months

District Supply Officer Sanjeev Singh said that the accused has been raided for the third time in four months. In May, 700 sacks of government rice were caught at this warehouse. A case was registered at Jagdishpura police station. In July, 60 bags were confiscated from the house of the accused. For the third time, more than 1600 sacks have been recovered so far.

Government rice used to sell in Haryana

According to the police, the accused Gopal told during interrogation that the ration shops have rice. It has purchased from eligible cardholders at a cheaper rate. He used to sell it in Haryana. During the action, District Food Marketing Officer Ajay Vikram Singh, Supply Inspector Pramod Kumar, Rakesh Saxena, Ajay Pawar, Subhash Chand etc. were present.

The possibility of police meeting

Even after the FIR was registered, the accused was doing black marketing of government rice. The police had registered a case. Caught thrice in four months, yet the police did not take strict action against the accused. Questions are being raised on the poor working style of the police. There may be a possibility of collusion.
