AC Bus Blast: The explosion was so great... the mechanic jumped 50 feet in the air, the body raged, people trembled


While filling gas in the e-bus at Swalenagar Charging Station on Rampur Road in Bareilly, a mechanic died when the compressor of the AC exploded, while two employees were seriously injured. The DM has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Mechanic Vijay Kumar (32), a resident of Ashok Vihar, Sanjaynagar, died on the spot in the accident that took place at 11:30 am on Thursday. While technician Narendra, resident of Fatehganj East and service engineer Bablu, resident of Bihar, were seriously injured. Both have been admitted to a private hospital in the city. Many officers including DM Shivakant Dwivedi, SSP Akhilesh Chaurasia reached the spot. What was the reason for the incident, DM has started its investigation. For this, a four-member team has been constituted under the leadership of the City Magistrate. Additional Director (Factory), Chief Fire Officer and Municipal Commissioner have been included in the team. The DM said that strict action will be taken against whoever’s negligence will come to the fore in the investigation.

Mechanic’s body was blown off in the blast

The blast was so strong that the mechanic’s body was blown to pieces. When the fort police reached the spot after the incident, they covered the parts of the deceased lying at places with cloth.

The people present in the e-bus charging station were shocked by the loud explosion caused by the compressor of the bus’s AC. With the explosion, mechanic Vijay, who was working on the roof of the bus, jumped about 50 feet into the air and fell on the ground. According to eyewitnesses, if there were other people at the charging station, they too could have been hit.

One of the 15 electric buses running under the Smart City project in the city, mechanic Vijay Kumar was repairing the AC on Thursday morning at 11.30 am. He was accompanied by technician Narendra and service engineer Bablu.

After repairing the compressor of the AC, Vijay, Narendra and Bablu were filling gas while sitting on the roof of the bus. Then suddenly the compressor exploded and Vijay jumped several feet into the air and fell to the ground, killing him, while Narendra and Bablu, who were a short distance away from Vijay, fell down from the side.
