PMP Buses | Breakdown of 55 buses on the roads every day in Pune | Navabharat

Pune: Every day on an average 50 to 55 buses of Pune Metropolitan Transport Corporation (PMP) are breaking down while plying on the road. Most of the 75 per cent of the buses that are closed are the buses of the contractors. There are more buses of contractors in the convoy of PMP. Due to the high number of breakdowns in these buses, many ferries have to be canceled. PMP is facing financial loss due to this.

In such a situation, care and repair of buses are not taken care of by the contractors who take bus fare of crores from PMP? This question is arising.

Service is provided from 1600 to 1650 buses

Passenger service is provided by the PMP in these parts through generally 1,600 to 1,650 buses. Out of these, 800 buses belong to PMP, while 800 buses belong to contractors. One million people travel every day through all these buses, but for the last few months, the incidents of PMP buses being closed on the roads have increased. The PMP has recovered a penalty of 16 lakh 63 thousand from the contractors for increasing the breakdown of the bus taken from the contractors. The buses of the contractors are required to travel an average of 200 kms every day, but due to non-compliance of this distance by them, the PMP is suffering. The passengers are facing this problem.
