Storm Fiona In Puerto Rico: US President Joe Biden has declared an emergency for Puerto Rico on Sunday. This announcement has been made due to Tropical Hurricane Fiona that hit Puerto Rico. In fact, a powerful cyclone had become the center of the storm on Wednesday in the Atlantic Ocean. It is named Fiona. A warning has been issued in Puerto Rico regarding this storm. At least one death has been reported in Basse-Terre in the French region of Guadeloupe, according to the vice president of the region’s environment agency. The National Hurricane Center said on Sunday that Tropical Storm Fiona’s winds increased their speed.
Fiona turning into a cyclone
This storm started in Puerto Rico on Sunday morning. Fiona is turning into a big cyclonic storm. Torrential rain is expected in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. The US Virgin Islands and the northern coast of the Dominican Republic are under surveillance from Cabo Frances Viejo west to Puerto Plata. Both regions, along with the British Virgin Islands, are under tropical storm warnings.
Heavy floods and landslides forecast
More rain is expected in Puerto Rico, which is estimated to average 12 to 16 inches. Due to the storm, tides (waves) can increase from 1 to 3 feet along the southern coast of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Where onshore winds will be strongest.
