AIIMS-Bhubaneswar launches rehabilitation project for patients discharged from ICU A to Z Counsel

In an effort to bring down the number of patients who lost their lives after being discharged from the ICU, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, has started a rehabilitation project for such people. Those who have had a tracheostomy (surgery to insert an artificial respiratory pipe) in the ICU. In this regard, an official said that the project was started after receiving reports of death of several patients after being discharged from the ICU of the hospital from different parts of the state. Most of such patients who lost their lives had recovered from Kovid-19.

According to the official, this institute has formed a panel of doctors who will suggest to the patients who are discharged from the ICU and their families how to take care of the patient. He said that 200 patients have been included in the post ICU rehabilitation project so far.
