Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao unfurled the national flag on the Telangana Jatiya Samaikyata Dinotsavam (Telangana National Unity Day) here on Saturday to mark 75 years of Hyderabad’s joining the Indian Union. Rao unfurled the tricolor shortly after Union Minister Amit Shah hoisted the flag on the occasion of ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ at the Parade Ground in Hyderabad itself.
In his address, KCR said, “My warm greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion of Telangana Jatiya Samaikyata Dinotsavam. Telangana became an integral part of India on 17 September 1948, which changed from monarchical rule to democratic rule.
He said that Telangana recently celebrated 75 years of Independence Day in a grand manner for 15 days. The Chandrashekhar Rao-led government had on September 3 announced its decision to observe September 17 as Telangana Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. Hyderabad state was merged with the Indian Union on 17 September 1948 under the Nizam’s rule.
