Anti Corruption Bureau arrests AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan

Amanatullah Khan Arrested: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan. Earlier, Delhi’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) had raided Khan’s house and his other premises. During this, an unlicensed weapon along with Rs 12 lakh and cartridges was recovered from Khan’s associates. On the basis of this, he has been arrested.

ACB is probing alleged irregularities in recruitment in Delhi Waqf Board. The ACB had on Thursday issued notice to Khan for questioning in the two-year-old corruption case. Khan, an MLA from Okhla region, was called for questioning at 12 noon on Friday in a case registered in 2020 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Earlier, the ACB had written to the Lt Governor’s Secretariat requesting the removal of Khan from the post of Delhi Waqf Board chairman. The ACB had claimed in the letter that Khan tried to influence the investigation by intimidating the witnesses in the case against him.

At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called the case registered against Amanatullah Khan as fake. AAP said, “Khan has been arrested in a baseless case. Nothing was found from his residence or office during the raid. This is a new conspiracy to implicate the MLA in a false case and defame our party.

What did Amanatullah Khan say?

Delhi Waqf Board chairman Khan had tweeted about the notice and claimed that he had been summoned as he had set up a new Waqf Board office.

At around 4 pm, Amanatullah Khan had tweeted and said, “I was called to ACB office for questioning and sent to Delhi Police to torture my family from behind. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, the truth never hurts, remember. I have full faith in the constitution and judiciary of this country.
