Ravikiran took the matter to the Bangalore City District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. He lodged a complaint against Reliance Retail Limited and Reliance Smart Point’s administration. Ravikiran represented himself in the court on the basis of amendments in the Consumer Protection Act. Retailers have erred in expecting customers to always bring their own carry bags. They rationalized that it is the job of the shops to give the goods to the customers. In this case, the court removed Ravikiran’s arms. The court ordered Ravikiran to pay Rs 5,000 as compensation and Rs 2,000 as compensation for the expenses incurred by him in court.
