The government has lifted the ban on the reservation of water in the Wan challenge and although the reservation of 24 million cubic meters of water has been fastened, however for this the Municipality will have to pay a water invoice of lakhs of rupees. Water payments have to be paid whereas lifting water from water initiatives for irrigation in addition to water provide schemes. Water is equipped for irrigation by way of canals. That’s why its charges are fastened.
However, if water is drawn instantly from the challenge whereas offering water to water provide schemes, the charge is totally different and if water is launched into the river mattress and water is lifted from the dam, a separate payment is charged. If water is taken for water provide scheme by leaving water in the river mattress, then the water invoice will have to be paid at an elevated charge. Because quite a bit of water is wasted whereas releasing water for the scheme.
In the Wan challenge, 24 million cubic meters of water was reserved for the Akola water provide scheme. But after sturdy opposition from the farmers, the government postponed this reservation. The adjournment has not been lifted but. However, with out eradicating the postponement, the Municipal Corporation has ready the detailed challenge report of the second section of the AMRUT scheme. The government has lifted the ban on this reservation and if the water is reserved for the Municipality, then the Municipality will have to pay greater than 75 lakhs in the water invoice.
If 24 decil cubic meter of water is reserved for the Municipality, then solely 16.46 million cubic meter of water will be left for irrigation from the Van challenge. About 150 hectares of land is irrigated out of a million cubic meters. Therefore, if 24 million cubic meters of water is reserved for non-irrigation, then it’s possible that about 4 thousand hectares of land will be disadvantaged of irrigation.

The water for the scheme will be lifted from the Van challenge. Water of 3 lakh rupees is charged for one tenth cubic meter. If the Municipality reserves 24 million cubic meters of water, then it has to pay a water invoice of Rs 72 lakh and the water invoice for the first two months upfront. Therefore, the municipality will have to pay greater than Rs 75 lakh in water tax.
