A jet crashes in the US state of Nevada. The pilot died in this accident. The accident happened during the STIHL National Championship Air Race (Reno Air Race). The video of this incident is going viral on social media.

It can be seen in the video that several jets took off during the race. One of these jets suddenly appeared to be falling. As soon as the jet hit the ground, it caught fire. A plume of smoke rose at the scene and the wreckage of the jet was visible.

The people sitting in the audience called the jet that was the victim of the accident dangerous. People said the jet looked like a ball of fire after it crashed.

The medical team and police reached the spot after the jet crashed. The whole matter is being investigated. Only then will the identity of the pilot be revealed.

Race operations suspended
Fred Telling, chairman and CEO of the Renault Air Racing Association, said – 152 jets took part in this air racing event. 156 pilots were present. A terrible accident happened during the third lap of air racing. In this the pilot died. The reason for how the accident happened is not yet known. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the accident.

He said- After the accident, the landing of all the other jets was done. No one has been injured in the accident. All race operations for 2022 have been suspended. We express our condolences to the family of the pilot killed in the accident.

The jets used in air racing are usually World War II fighters. They can fly at a speed of about 500 mph (804 kph).

Retired Airforce pilot died in 2014
This is not the first time an accident has happened during racing. One such incident happened during the Renault Air Race in 2011. A jet had crashed into the audience after it lost its balance. 11 people including the pilot were killed in the accident. More than 60 people were injured. In 2014, a jet crashed due to faulty wings. A retired Airforce pilot was killed in this. In view of the accidents, many questions are being raised on the Racing Association regarding the safety of the pilots and the audience.
