The ICC on Tuesday released the list of rules that are going to change from 1 October 2022. The Men’s Cricket Committee, led by former India captain Sourav Ganguly, recommended changes to the playing conditions in the third edition of the MCC’s 2017 Rules of Cricket. The findings were also shared with the Women’s Cricket Committee, which supported the recommendations. The new rules will come into effect from 1 October 2022, which means that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to be held in Australia next month will be played on the basis of these new rules.

Even if the batsman is caught out, the new batter will come on strike. Till now it used to happen that the new batsman used to come at the other end when the stroke was changed during the catch.

The new batsman will have to take the strike in two minutes in Tests and ODIs, while in T20 its time limit is 90 seconds. After the dismissal of the first batsman, the new player used to get three minutes in Tests and ODIs. If the batsman fails to do so, the fielding captain can demand a time out.
If the ball falls out of the pitch, then under the new rule, the batsman will have the right to play the ball if some part of the bat or if it is inside the pitch. When he goes out, the umpire will signal the dead ball. Any ball that is forced to leave the pitch is a no-ball.
– If any improper and intentional movement is made during the bowler’s bowling, then he will be given a dead ball by the umpire, in addition to this the batting team will get 5 runs as a penalty.

– If a bowler throws the ball in an attempt to run out the striker before entering his delivery stride, it is now a dead ball. This is an extremely rare senario, which until now has been called a no ball.
– Like in T20, now in ODI cricket too, if the over is not completed on time, the fielding team will have to keep an additional fielder within the circle of 30 yards.
