Resolution passed in two states to make Rahul Gandhi president


Congress Presidential Election: In the midst of the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, now the question is rising loudly that who will be the next president of the party. The demand for making former party president and MP Rahul Gandhi as party president once again has started. Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have passed resolutions to support him to take over as party chief.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said that Rahul Gandhi should reconsider his decision on the matter. In fact, while addressing the media during Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi had said, “Whether I will become the President of Congress or not, it will be clear when elections are held for the post of President but, I have clearly decided. I have taken what I will do and there is no confusion in my mind.”

What did CM Baghel say?

On appointing Rahul Gandhi as party president, CM Baghel said, “Chhattisgarh Congress Committee and Rajasthan Congress Committee have given this proposal. It has been done in two states, but if this proposal comes from other states also, then Rahul Gandhi should be given The matter should be reconsidered.”

Election will be held on October 17

Significantly, the notification for the election of the Congress President will be issued on September 22. Nomination for the post of Congress President can be done from September 24 to September 30. The last date for filing nominations is 30 September 2022 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is 8 October. The Congress Working Committee (CWC) had decided that the election for the post of Congress President would be held on October 17. The counting of votes will take place on October 19.

Rahul Gandhi was the Congress President from 2017 to 2019. When Rahul Gandhi was elected Congress President in 2017, state units passed a similar resolution. He resigned after the party’s defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Since then, Sonia Gandhi is the interim president of the party.
