Congress Presidential Election: The date for the Congress Presidential election is approaching. In such a situation, now the question is rising loudly that who will be the next president of the party. Meanwhile, the demand for making former Congress President Rahul Gandhi as the party president again has started rising. Many state units have also passed resolutions to elect Rahul Gandhi as Congress President.

Earlier, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan had passed resolutions supporting Rahul to take over as party chief. At the same time, the Congress units of the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu have also passed a similar resolution. On Monday, a proposal was put to the President of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, Waqar Rasool, to make Rahul Gandhi the President of the All India Congress Committee, which was passed unanimously.

In the meeting of Maharashtra Congress Party, two resolutions have been passed today. The first resolution was passed that the Congress President would have the right to decide the State President and the State Executive of the states. Whereas the second resolution was passed that Rahul Gandhi should be made the National President of Congress.

On Monday itself, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) unanimously passed a resolution urging Rahul Gandhi to lead the party. In the general council meeting of the party’s state unit, TNCC president KS Alagiri moved a resolution urging Rahul Gandhi to take over as the president of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). This motion was passed unanimously.

TNCC tweeted, “A resolution moved by TNCC President KS Alagiri proposed the name of Rahul Gandhi for the post of AICC President and this resolution was unanimously passed by the General Council of TNCC.” In the past, several state Congress committees including Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have passed resolutions urging Rahul Gandhi to lead.

Rahul Gandhi started the Bharat Jodo Yatra on September 7, under which he is undertaking a 3,500-km padyatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. During this visit, on the question asked about the election of Congress President, Rahul Gandhi had said, “Whether I will become the President of Congress or not, it will be clear when elections will be held for the post of President. I have decided. That’s what I will do and I have no illusions in my mind.” Let us tell you that the last date for filing nomination for the post of Congress President is 30 September. The elections will be held on October 17 and the counting of votes will be done on October 19.
