Congress President: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot reiterated on Saturday that he wants Rahul Gandhi to take over the reins of the Congress. Gehlot’s statement was supported by the state president and other representatives of the party by raising their hands. Gehlot was addressing a meeting of representatives of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee here.
According to the spokesperson of the party, “Chief Minister Gehlot said that his feeling is that Rahul Gandhi should take charge of the party by becoming the President of Congress, on which the state president Dotasra supported him and all the newly elected representatives present raised their hands in support.” In the first meeting of representatives of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (Delegates), a resolution was passed to give the right to choose the state president of the party and the representative of All India Congress Committee (AICC) from Rajasthan to the national president of the party.

According to the official statement released after the meeting, Chief Minister Gehlot proposed that the President of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee and AICC representatives from Rajasthan be selected by the Congress President. State President Dotasara supported it and Congress Working Committee member Raghuveer Meena approved it. This resolution was passed unanimously by all the 400 newly elected representatives of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, and submitted it to the State Election Officer Rajendra Singh Champawat to present it in the AICC.

In this, Chief Minister Gehlot said that his feeling is that Rahul Gandhi should take charge of the party by becoming the President of Congress, on which the State President Dotasra supported him and all the newly elected representatives present gave their consent by raising their hands in support. In the meeting, he said, “All Congressmen are one on the basis of ideology and no one is divided into any faction.”
