Congress Bharat Jodo Yatra: During the India Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi was seen sailing a boat with local sailors in Cheriya Kalavur, Kerala. While sharing the video, Youth Congress President Srinivas Biwi said that Rahul Gandhi took part in the boat race. He said, “Fearing the waves the boat does not cross, those who try do not lose.”
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi interacted with the fishermen community at Vadkal beach in the early hours of Monday, before starting the 12th day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. During this, various challenges including rising fuel prices, reduction in subsidies, depleting fish stocks and damage to the environment were discussed.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “Rahul Gandhi Alappuzha at 6 am on challenges related to rising fuel prices, cutting subsidies, depleting fish stocks, not getting pension, inadequate education opportunities and damage to the environment. When did India Jodo Yatra start?
It started from Punnapara on Monday and senior Congress leader K. Muraleedharan, K. Suresh, Ramesh Chennithala, K. C. Venugopal and Leader of Opposition in Kerala Legislative Assembly V.D. Satheshan were also present in the padyatra along with Gandhi. The yatra will reach Kalavoor after covering a distance of about 16 kms. From there the journey will be started again at around 4.30 pm and after about nine kilometers it will stop at Mayithara near Cherthala.
The 3,570-km long and 150-day long padyatra of the Congress, which began from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7, will conclude in Jammu and Kashmir. The ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ reached Kerala on the evening of September 10 and will cover a distance of 450 km, passing through seven districts of Kerala in 19 days before reaching Karnataka on October 1.
