Retired personnel in the Railways will get a chance to serve once again. Under PM Modi’s ambitious project Gati Shakti Unit, the experience of retired railwaymen will be taken advantage of in all the works of the railways. For this, the Railway Board has authorized the DRMs of Prayagraj, Jhansi and Agra divisions of North Central Railway Zone for the process of re-appointment of retired personnel.
In order to improve the mobility of passenger trains and goods trains and to overcome the problems faced in infrastructure development, Gati Shakti Units have been installed in all the Zonal Railways on the directions of Railway Board. Units have been established in all the three divisions of NCR. So that the ongoing construction and other works in NCR can be expedited.
The Gati Shakti unit will be staffed by the engineering, signal and telecommunications and finance departments. Experienced railway personnel will be involved to expedite the works. All zonal railways including NCR have been directed to re-engage retired railway personnel according to their merit. Under this, retired supervisors will be recruited.
All these will be paid on the fixed honorarium. Through the experience of these supervisors, Railways will speedily clear their pending works. In this regard, NCR CPRO Dr. Shivam Sharma says that the intention behind setting up Gati Shakti Unit is to speed up the pending works.
On the other hand, in this regard, the DRM of Lucknow, Varanasi etc. Division of Northern Railway has been issued an order by Ajay Kumar Pathak, General Manager (P) of Northern Railway, saying that recruitment should be started soon by forming Gati Shakti Unit. In this, those retired railwaymen will be recruited, whose age is less than 64 years and six months.
