VadodaraAam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal has defended Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann amid allegations that he was grounded for being intoxicated. Mann has been accused of being deboarded from the Frankfurt airport on a Delhi-bound flight for being “intoxicated”.

Talking to reporters in Gujarat’s Vadodara, Kejriwal said that the opposition is throwing mud on Mann and spreading lies as no defect has been found in his work. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday alleged that Mann was deboarded from a Lufthansa flight at the Frankfurt airport for being in an inebriated condition.

Earlier in the day, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said he would look into the allegations. Kejriwal said, “What Man saheb has done in six months, what the previous governments of Punjab did not do in 75 years. After 75 years, Punjab has got a ‘hardcore’ honest and hardworking Chief Minister.

He said the opposition is indulging in mud-slinging as it has failed to find fault with Mann’s work. The Chief Minister of Delhi said, “It is all lies and nonsense. The opposition wants to stop Mann, but the public is watching. They are happy with their work.” Asked about the arrest of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, Kejriwal said if anyone has done wrong, he should be punished. He targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for holding a press conference on the issue.

Kejriwal said, “I have never seen a useless party like BJP. This is the work of CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation), ED (Enforcement Directorate), Income Tax Department and Police. Despite this, he holds daily press conferences and accuses people. If we ever form the government at the Centre, we will send the accused to jail and not hold a press conference.” Significantly, on September 16, AAP MLA Khan was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch in a corruption case.
