In Muzaffarnagar’s Khatauli assembly by-election, there was a close fight between BJP candidate Rajkumari Saini and SP-RLD-ASP alliance candidate Madan Bhaiya at 369 booths on Monday. The results will be declared on December 8. The EVMs were kept at the Naveen Mandi site till late night.

Voter turnout was slow in the by-election, with only 56.46 percent votes cast. However, the polling remained peaceful. SP MLA from Sardhana Atul Pradhan tweeted Khatauli’s video alleging that the voter was prevented from casting his vote with Aadhaar card, to which the police replied that the allegation was false. There were 14 candidates in the fray, with the main contest between the BJP and the alliance.

The margin of victory and defeat is expected to be less in the match of thorns. Apart from the assembly, the BJP has won this seat in the Lok Sabha elections, so this time the prestige of the BJP is at stake.

Earlier, till Sunday evening, polling personnel had reached 369 booths. The polling started at 7 in the morning, which was done till 6 in the evening. Police and paramilitary forces were deployed at each polling station.

The pace of polling was a bit slow in the morning. There was 6.9 percent voting till 9 o’clock. The total polling percentage till 11:00 am was 20.70. Polling has been done smoothly and peacefully at a total of 369 polling stations in Khatauli assembly constituency. At the same time, 33.2 percent polling was done till 1 pm. After this, 40.2 percent polling was done till 3 pm.

During the Khatauli assembly elections, an EVM machine was damaged in Nawla. On whose information SP City and ADM reached the spot and got the EVM machine replaced. Started voting again. Mobile was recovered from an agent at Navla polling station itself. This affected the voting for some time.

Danish, a resident of Dhakan Wala Chowk in Khatauli, also reached to vote in the by-election. Danish said that he has voted on the issue of development. A day earlier, Danish had come into the limelight regarding his demand for marriage.

Voting was affected for some time due to EVM malfunction at booth number 282 of primary school in Ghanshyampura village of Ratanpuri area. The EVM was replaced by another EVM. After which voting could resume smoothly.

Duty of a female employee at each booth
There are 369 booths in Khatauli, in which a woman employee duty was imposed on each booth. This arrangement was made to identify women voters.
