Taking a tough stand, the Allahabad High Court has directed the Consolidation Commissioner to immediately suspend Devkant Pandey, Assistant Consolidation Officer posted at Handia, Prayagraj. The court said that departmental action should be initiated against the Assistant Consolidation Officer for non-compliance of the 41-year-old order even after instructions from higher officials. Not only this, the court has directed that Assistant Consolidation Officer Devkant Pandey should be posted 300 km away from Prayagraj during the ongoing departmental action against him.

This order has been given by Justice Siddharth on the petition of Devendra Kumar Singh. The petition sought compliance of the orders of the Consolidation Officer passed on December 17, 1981 and October 25, 2013. It was said that despite the order being 41 years old, the Assistant Consolidation Officers are not following the orders of higher officials.

The court has ordered that after suspending the Assistant Consolidation Officer, the appointed inquiry officer should complete his inquiry within three months and after the completion of the inquiry, the disciplinary officer should take action on the basis of the inquiry report. The court will hear the petition again on March 3. The Court has directed to submit the action taken report against the Assistant Consolidation Officer on that day.
