New Delhi: Indian team star player Ravichandran Ashwin is celebrating his 36th birthday today. Ashwin has troubled many batsmen with his amazing spin. Ashwin is one of the world’s famous and legendary spinners. Ashwin was born on 17 September 1986 in a Tamil family. He lives in West Mambalam, Chennai.

Ashwin did his schooling from Padma Sheshadri Bala Bhavan and St. Bede. He took admission in SSN College of Engineering and graduated with B.Tech in Information Technology. Ravichandran Ashwin’s first love was not cricket. He used to play football. It was believed that due to his good stature, he could perform better in football. But by chance Ashwin got into cricket.

Ashwin is an expert in showing amazing not only with the ball but also with the bat. He has won his team many times while batting brilliantly in the lower order. Let us tell you that in the beginning of cricket, he used to be an opener. But, an injury changed his life. Actually, when Ashwin was 14 years old, he had an injury in his pelvic area. Because of this he stayed in bed for two months. It was only after this that he started concentrating on bowling instead of batting.

Ashwin became very famous for his carrom ball in the early days. He made his ODI debut in the year 2010. He started his career playing against Sri Lanka. Ashwin has shown his flair for India in all three formats of cricket, Test, ODI and T20 International. However, he has not appeared in the ODI and T20 International team for many years.

Ravichandran Ashwin made his Test debut on 6 November 2011 against Australia in Adelaide. This match is very memorable for him. He took 9 wickets in that match. He was awarded Man of the Match in his very first Test. He was the fourth Indian cricketer to be adjudged man of the match in his debut Test. Before him Narendra Hirwani, Praveen Amre and Rudra Pratap Singh have done this achievement in their name.

Ashwin is the fastest bowler to take 300 wickets in Test cricket. He achieved this feat in 54 Test matches, two less than Dennis Lillee. His century of wickets in the test match was completed in the 18th test match itself. Before Ashwin, this record was in the name of Erapalli Prasanna, who achieved this feat in 20 Test matches.

Ashwin has done the feat twice in Test cricket by taking a century and five wickets in the same match. He is the only cricketer from India to do so. He accomplished this feat both the times against West Indies.

Ashwin has won the title of ‘Man of the Series’ six times in Test cricket. He is also ahead of the great Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar and former opener Virender Sehwag in this matter. Sachin and Sehwag were named ‘Man of the Series’ five times.

Ashwin has played 79 Tests, 111 ODIs and 46 T20 Internationals so far in his career. He has 413 wickets in Tests, 150 in ODIs and 52 wickets in T20 Internationals. Apart from this, the level of batting in Ashwin’s Test career is also quite amazing. He has also scored 5 centuries and 11 half-centuries in his Tests. He has now scored a total of 2685 runs in Tests.

Let us tell you that Ashwin married his childhood friend Prithvi Narayanan on 13 November 2011. Ashwin and Narayanan have two beautiful daughters.
