Nagpur. By preparing a flat scheme, a builder made a deal with the people. After taking the full amount from many people, the agreement was made to sell. Later, by mortgaging the entire building itself with the finance company, he took the project loan. The recovery started after the bank sank and people came to know about the fraud. The accused builder was told to be Shashank Govindprasad Pandey (48), resident of Ramdaspeth. A case was registered on the complaint of Rahul Dattatray Dhabu (44), a resident of New Subhedar Layout. Pandey is the director of Prayag Builders.

In the year 2013, Pandey prepared a 7-storey flat scheme named Divya Prayag in Wanjarinagar. Made a deal of flat with 23 people including Rahul Dhabu. Till the year 2014, he made a registered agreement to sell by taking different amount from all the flat holders. Most of the people had taken possession. Everyone was given the pretext of getting the sale deed done together.

After most of the flats were dealt, Pandey started building Shanti Prayag apartments in Laxminagar. In the year 2015, Pandey took a loan of Rs 22 crore by sanctioning the project loan by mortgaging the entire flat scheme of Divya Prayag and some flats in Shanti Prayag to Dewan Housing Finance Limited. Till then no flat holder was aware of this.

Information received upon receipt of notice

Dey had clearly stated in the documents that there is no financial burden or loan on his scheme. Everyone got the sale deed done. After the sinking of Dewan Housing, the process of recovery started. Till then no one had any information. In the year 2020, notices were pasted by the administration at Shanti Prayag Apartment in Laxminagar. Then the people living there gave information to the familiar people living in Divya Prayag. Pandey was found to have an outstanding of Rs 12.90 crore. Everyone contacted Pandey.

Pandey assured to settle all the transactions soon. 2 years passed but the bank did not return the amount. In January 2022, people complained to CP Amitesh Kumar due to mortgage of the flat taken with hard earned money. On his instructions, the Economic Offenses Investigation Wing conducted a preliminary inquiry. A case was registered at Ajni police station on Saturday. Police has started in search of Pandey.
