The pregnant woman’s husband reached Dr. Swati at around 3.30 pm and did not know that he was a doctor but was relieved when he introduced himself to the doctor. Dr. Swati in her statement said that the railway staff and coach people also cooperated a lot and they helped in setting up a temporary delivery room in the coach, thus the delivery of the woman took place in the train with great success.

As we told you that the obstetrician Swati is a final year medical student at GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) in Visakhapatnam. Sharing her post-delivery experience, Swati said, ‘This experience was unlike any other experience in my life till now. I was naturally stressed, and since I had no equipment, the delivery took longer than usual. Not only this, everyone around the train helped and they made an emergency stop at Anakapalle station to handle the situation and finally became very happy after the birth of a healthy baby.

The train stopped at Anakapalli station and immediately the mother and the newborn were transferred to the NTR Government Hospital in an ambulance.
