Delhi’s air quality nears poor category, people’s concern increased A to Z Counsel

New Delhi:

The air quality of Delhi was recorded near the ‘poor’ category on Monday. Three days before this, for the first time in a year, the air quality of the city was recorded in the good category. The 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded at 182 at 4 pm on Monday. It was recorded at 119 on Sunday, 70 on Saturday and 47 on Friday.

The AQI was recorded at 405 (severe category) in Anand Vihar area. Mahesh Palawat, vice-president (climate change and meteorology), Skymet Weather, said the confluence of east and west winds did not allow local pollutants to spread. Due to the light speed of the wind, the pollutants accumulated in the morning.

According to the Ministry of Earth Sciences’ air quality early warning system for Delhi-NCR, the air quality is likely to remain in the “moderate to poor” category on Tuesday and in the “poor” category on Wednesday. An AQI between zero to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 satisfactory, 101 to 200 moderate, 201 to 300 poor, 301 to 400 very poor and 401 to 500 as severe.
