In Delhi, top officials of eight police districts, including the communally sensitive North-East and North-West, have been directed to enhance people’s trust, including preventing hate crimes and street crime. In February 2020, riots broke out in the North-East district after clashes between supporters of the amended Citizenship Act and those opposing it, in which at least 53 people were killed and over 200 were injured.

Eight of Delhi’s 15 police districts come under Pathak’s jurisdiction which include North, North-East, North-West, Central, Rohini, Shahdara, East, Northeast and Outer North districts. The northern district houses the Lieutenant Governor’s office, the chief minister’s residence and the assembly building, while the central district comprises Old Delhi, Raj Ghat and other places of historical importance. Ghazipur and Singhu Border, which have been the center of farmers’ agitation for more than a year, come under East and Outer North district respectively.
