The effect of the ongoing war in Russia-Ukraine is beginning to be seen in kitchens around the world. Russia is a major supplier of oil and gas to the world, including Europe. But this supply has been affected due to war and international sanctions on Russia. Due to which there was a huge shortage of gas around the world, especially in Europe.

After this, cooking was started with electric cookers in the kitchens of Europe. But within a few months, the excessive electricity bill forced this path to be changed as well.

According to a report by CNBC, the average energy bill in Britain has reached 3,594 euros, or about 3 lakh 35 thousand rupees annually. After which people are looking for alternative means to cook food.

Since Western countries have long abandoned cooking on coal and wood stoves; In such a situation, they now have the most economical way of cooking ‘microwave’ left. Instead of fire, only food cooked by electromagnetic waves will fill Europe’s stomach.

Microwave is 10 times cheaper than electric cooker

According to a report in the British newspaper ‘The Sunday Times’, these days the use of microwaves for cooking has increased rapidly in the UK. According to a survey by ‘Utilita’, the average bill for using an electric cooker in the UK for a year is 316 euros. Whereas a microwave does the same thing for just 30 euros.

In recent years, the use of electric cookers for quick cooking has increased rapidly. But in view of the increasing bill, people are now turning to the old technology like microwave.

Continuously changing cooking techniques

For thousands of years, humans have depended on fire for cooking. First of all this fire was lit with the help of wood and cow dung. This was followed by the invention of the gas stove in the 1860s. But the decade in the 1950s revolutionized the way we cook. Now food is being cooked with ‘electromagnetic waves’ instead of direct fire. This technology is called ‘Microweb’. Then around 1990 electric cookers became popular.

How does a microwave work, how is it different from a heat oven?

The technology of microwave oven is completely different from other cooking techniques. Food in a microwave oven does not come into contact with fire.

It does not burn filament or even gas. In this, an electromagnetic web is created with the help of electricity in the chamber (oven).

This wave is passed through the middle of the meal. When passing through the food, the water particles (hydrogen and oxygen) present in the food start moving. Whose energy is created and the food starts heating up.

Whereas in ordinary heat oven, the filament is burnt with the help of electricity. Whose heat cooks food. With a simple heat oven, the outer part of the food (which is towards the hitting rod) gets cooked well. While the inside remains raw. On the other hand, the microwave cooks the whole food evenly.

Microwave oven was invented due to accident

By the way, scientists had known a lot about the electromagnetic web by the 1890s. But no one thought of cooking from it. But a scientific accident in 1945 introduced the world to a new way of cooking.

Something happened because American scientist ‘Percy Spencer’ was doing some experiments on a device producing electro magnetic web. During this, a chocolate bar was kept in his pocket. Percy found that the chocolate in his pocket melted when exposed to the electromagnetic web. This is where he got the idea to cook food with the help of wave.

The first microwave oven was of 350 kg, the price was 40 lakhs

The world’s first microwave oven for commercial use was made in America in 1947. The cost of this 340 kg microwave oven was around Rs 40 lakh as of today. But as scientists kept improving it; Its weight and its price both went down. By 1986, 25% of American households used a microwave oven. By 1997 this figure had risen to 90%.

Microwave can cook the body like food, there is also danger of radiation

Cheap and quick cooking microwave ovens can be dangerous in many ways. If the wave emanating from it comes in contact with the body, then it will cook it like food in a few seconds. Along with this, many people have also been expressing concern about the radiation coming out of it. But scientists have not yet come to know about any such danger.
