Giving information about the incident, Thoubal Superintendent of Police (SP) Habijam Jogeshchandra said that Laishram Rameshwar Singh, convenor of the former military cell of BJP’s state unit, was murdered near the gate of his residence in the area in the morning. The two men came in a car without registration number and opened fire on Singh at 11 am, he said. Fifty-year-old Singh was immediately taken to a private hospital after being hit by a bullet in his chest. He died only during treatment.
