New Delhi: A big news is coming out from Katihar district of Bihar. One person died in police custody here. Because of this a group of villagers attacked a police station. During this, seven policemen including two station in-charges (SHOs) were seriously injured.

According to the information received, 40-year-old Pramod Kumar Singh was allegedly taken into custody. At the same time, there was a ruckus after Pramod’s death in police custody. On receiving the news of Pramod’s death, the villagers reached the police station and started vandalizing and also damaged the vehicles kept in the premises. Let us tell you that Pramod Singh was arrested on Friday for allegedly possessing liquor bottles, while there is a prohibition in Bihar.

The injured police station in-charges have been identified as Manitosh Kumar of Pranpur police station and Shailesh Kumar, in-charge of Dandkhora police station, the official said.
Acting Superintendent of Police Dayashankar had said on Saturday, “All the injured policemen have been admitted to the district hospital in Katihar and their condition is stable. The situation is completely under control and our team is camping there.” They claimed that Singh’s body was found when the police were preparing documents to produce him in the court.
It is noteworthy that since April 5, 2016, there is a ban on the production, sale, storage, transportation and consumption of liquor in Bihar and its violation is a punishable offense under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act 2016.
